If you opt for Tricare insurance, your breast pump and associated supplies may be covered at no cost to you. Tricare allows you to receive your insurance covered breast pump before or after delivery. To qualify for a breast pump with Tricare, the following criteria must be met:

Standard electric and manual Breast Pumps

TRICARE insurance offers coverage for one standard electric or manual breast pump for every birth (or adoption).


Hospital-grade breast pumps

TRICARE insurance offers coverage for electric hospital-grade pumps and related supplies as needed by mothers and babies who are:


Kept apart as a result of illness

Not able to directly breastfeed due to certain medical reasons


Tricare insurance states that when the requirement for a hospital-grade breast pump is over, you could get coverage for a standard electric or a manual breast pump by obtaining a new prescription.

Tricare insurance owners are eligible for a breast pump, supplies, as well as breastfeeding counseling, irrespective of the plan (TRICARE Prime, the US Family Health Plan, TRICARE Standard, TRICARE Reserve Select, and so on.)
